Yes — the Triangle consistently ranks among the best places to live in the U.S. thanks to a strong job market anchored by Research Triangle Park, three major universities, mild four-season weather, and home prices well below coastal metros. Most relocating buyers find they get significantly more home for their money here.
How much does a house cost in the Raleigh area?
As of 2026, median home prices range from roughly $405,000 in Durham to about $625,000 in Cary, with Raleigh around $440,000. Townhomes and condos start in the high $200Ks, while established neighborhoods and new construction in top school zones run higher. Your budget goes furthest in towns like Garner, Fuquay-Varina, Knightdale, Wendell, and Zebulon.
Which Triangle town is right for me?
It depends on what you're optimizing for. Cary, Apex, and Holly Springs are known for master-planned neighborhoods, parks, and short RTP commutes; Raleigh offers the broadest mix of urban and suburban living; Durham brings the most character per dollar; Chapel Hill and Wake Forest deliver college-town and small-town personalities.
